Dear East Troy Community and beyond,
I am writing, as Chairperson of the PLPRD, to address recent information circulating about our Lake District. Specifically, there is misinformation published in the Protect Lake Beulah (PLB), Lake Views Fall 2025 Newsletter. PLB misquoted on page 8, under the section titled, WHAT’S HAPPENING ON OTHER LAKES? Under POTTERS LAKE: Per their website, “This local lake is beginning to take on the issue of wake-enhancement boating…They are also considering an Advisory motion regarding the need to have/or develop an ordinance regarding Wake Boat surfing on Town lakes.”
We understand that such misinformation can create confusion and concern, and we want to assure you that Potters Lake Protection and Rehabilitation (PLPRD) is committed to transparency and accuracy in our communication.
The only truth to PLB’s newsletter is that our Lake District is aware that wake boats and wake sports are a trending issue; however, the PLPRD has not taken a position on using wake boats on Potter Lake. We are monitoring information presented in the area and will continue to do so. At no time have we discussed taking ANY action regarding wake sports. The referenced article on our website clearly states this. It also clearly states that the Town of East Troy is (was) considering an advisory motion.
We are taking the necessary steps to ensure that accurate information about PLPRD is disseminated to the public. These steps include:
- Contacting PLB, who originated the misinformation, and request that they retract, reprint, and redistribute their Fall 2025 newsletter.
- Updating our website and social media channels with the correct information.
We sincerely regret any confusion or concern caused by this misinformation. We value your trust and appreciate your continued support of the Lake District.
If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact Cathy Schulz at chairperson@potterslake.org.
Sincerely,
Cathy Schulz, PLPRD Chair
