On Saturday morning, 9/19, Potter Lake homeowner rain gauges showed that over 2" of rain had fallen. Because more rain was expected, even though we were not quite at 8.8, the dam was opened 12". In the next 24 hours, close to another 4" of rain fell. There is a lot of standing water on area properties, and some crawl spaces or basements have some water as well. Based on our experience in April, we are likely to have water seep into the lake, so the dam was opened another 6" this morning. It will remain open until the water level at the dam stabilizes just below 8.8 when the gate is closed. Thank you to our Operations and Maintenance Supervisor for taking prompt action!
